2026 MPN Challenge™ Announcement Teaser
Artificial intelligence, precision medicine, and new approaches to understudied forms of myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) are among the themes shaping this year's MPN Challenge™ portfolio. MPN Research Foundation's latest funded projects reflect growing momentum in areas that could improve how we predict disease progression, understand MPN biology, and develop more personalized approaches to patient care.
Selecting the most promising scientific research projects requires an extensive review process. Experts and patient advocates evaluated 53 applications, helping identify 8 projects with the potential to advance MPN research and improve patient outcomes.
Several funded projects apply artificial intelligence and machine learning to longstanding challenges in MPN research, including disease monitoring, risk prediction, diagnostic innovation, and the integration of complex clinical and biological data. Other projects focus on MPL-mutated MPNs, a rare but important subset of MPN cancers that continue to demand scientific answers. Additional research aims to better understand disease progression and identify new opportunities to improve patient outcomes.
The MPN Challenge™ was established to accelerate research that addresses unmet needs in MPN care and brings promising ideas closer to patients. Since its inception, Foundation-supported research has contributed to a growing global effort to better understand and treat these rare blood cancers.
