ZEBRAFISH SHINES LIGHT ON MELANOMA AND PROVIDES HOPE FOR MPN

Dr. Leonard Zon of Boston Children’s Hospital has made a discovery that shed light on the origins of cancer. Using zebrafish, Dr. Zon discovered a melanoma cell that had reverted to an embryonic form, when it could have developed into any cell type. As it began to divide, cancer genes took over and the single primitive cell barreled forward into a massive tumor. Click here to read more from the NYTimes on this exciting discovery.
