Governor Pat Quinn Proclaims September 20th as MF Day In Illinois

September 11, 2012

At the urging of the MPN Research Foundation Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has proclaimed September 20th Myelofibrosis Awareness Day in Illinois! The governor recognized the plight of MF patients who are faced with this rare and progressive blood cancer which can be fatal.

Patients, family members and friends will be working hard across the country to promote MF Awareness Day on September 20th. Please join us in growing awareness in your own community by doing one of the following:

• Get MF Awareness Day declared in your state - contact us and we'll help get you started
• Encourage your hematologist to give a presentation on MPNs to a local group of patients
• Send this notice to your local media outlets about MF Awareness Day and Blood Cancer Awareness Month. Tell them why paying attention to MF is important
• Create your own event to raise awareness and funds for the MPNs. Invite your friends, family and community

How we are honoring MF Awareness Day

The MPN Research Foundation is hosting it's first Midwest MPN Patient Symposium on Thursday, September 20th in Chicago. This event brings patients and caregivers together with physicians and researchers focused on MPNs. Tickets are going fast but are still available here.

The entire MPN community of patients, caregivers and family members will be working hard to promote MF Awareness Day on September 20, 2012. Thanks to Governor Quinn, Illinois is the first to make it official.
