Frieda Staeger, 71, of Watchung, N.J., died on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, in Overlook Medical Center in Summit, N.J. The memorial viewing will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, followed by a 6 p.m. memorial service. Cremation was private. Born in Newark, N.J., Mrs. Staeger was raised in Union, N.J. She was married in Hawaii and lived in Short Hills, N.J., for 10 years before moving to Watchung in 1977. Prior to her retirement in 2007, Mrs. Staeger was a pre-school teacheMr for the Long Hill Christian Preschool in Chatham, N.J. for 25 years. She loved teaching her classes of 3- year-olds. Mrs. Staeger was a member of the Gillette Chapel in Gillette, N.J. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her family, especially during the holidays.
Surviving are her loving husband of 53 years, Paul C. Staeger; her son, Robert Staeger and his wife, Dawn; her daughters, Cindy Wolfenden and her husband, John; Sue Hughes and her husband, Brian; Janette Walby and her husband, John, and Mary Wilson and her husband, Jim, as well as 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Staeger is also survived by her twin brother, Rudy Brauer, and her sisters, Elsie Bauer and Evelyn Pytell.
